Getting to Know CRA’s New York Office

The Commute: Employees in the New York office live all over, including in Brooklyn, Hoboken, Westchester, and Manhattan. However, working near Times Square allows for a variety of ways to arrive at the office. There are stops for numerous subway lines, including the 123, BDFM, ACE, and NQR within a few blocks of the office. We are also a few short blocks from the Port Authority bus terminal for people commuting from New Jersey.
Lunch Spots: Being located in Midtown Manhattan means that if there’s a certain type of food you’re looking to have for lunch, you can most likely find it nearby. A few of my personal favorite spots are the Picnic Basket (37th and 6th) for great paninis and salads, Between the Bread (40th between 5th and Madison) for healthy chicken or salmon bowls, and Schnipper’s Quality Kitchen (41st and 8th) for days when you just really need a cheeseburger. There are also two Chipotles, Lenwich, Just Salad, Cosi, and Potbelly only a few blocks away.
Dress Code: The New York office has a business casual dress code, but on Fridays you are allowed to wear jeans. You may notice people dressed in suits for events such as client meetings or dressed down on certain days. Men tend to wear long sleeve button down shirts and slacks, while women wear nice pants and blouses, skirts, or dresses. Overall, the idea is to be smart and use common sense to wear professional and appropriate clothing to the office.
Social Outings: The New York office offers many opportunities for coworkers to spend time together in a more relaxed and fun environment. Many members of the junior staff regularly grab drinks on their free nights, and in May attended a happy hour sponsored by CRA’s social committee. The entire office was invited for drinks and snacks in early June to celebrate the new office by enjoying our new view of downtown, which includes the Freedom Tower and Statue of Liberty! Later in the summer, there will be another event hosted by Deb, vice president of business development, on the roof deck of her apartment. One of my favorite things during my time here is the annual summer outing, which takes place in August. Last year we played casino games on a boat while enjoying dinner and drinks with incredible views around Manhattan.
