Chris Bakewell specializes in valuation and licensing in issues involving technology-rich businesses and intellectual property (IP) rights.
In addition to his strategy, valuation and licensing consulting experience, he is known as a leading expert witness on financial and economic issues. Chris has significant expertise in matters involving patent infringement, breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, diminution of business value, trademark and copyright infringement, injunctive relief (including analyses of irreparable harm and ongoing royalties), international trade issues (including analyses of domestic industry, remedy and bonding), unfair competition, antitrust, as well as other matters. Chris has testified as an expert in forums around the world.
Chris is a frequent speaker, instructor and author on IP commercialization issues. He is also consistently recognized as a leading economic expert witness, including for example in each edition of the IAM Patent 1000 as a top-tier expert and global leader. Chris’s career includes senior roles in finance and business development, and as a consultant, he founded and led a leading intellectual property advisory practice. Chris is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in business valuation, and a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP). He holds a MBA from the Smith School at the University of Maryland, where he was a graduate fellow and remains active to this day, and a BS degree from Bradley University.
